To record an XLR condenser mic, you need an XLR cable to plug the mic into your Audiobox. You just have to select it as your Record Device in Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware. Yes, you can record the USB mic directly into Audition. Added together, this is likely to introduce enough latency to be a problem.įrankly, if you can use an XLR mic via the Audiobox, things would be easier for you. You'll be monitoring after a round trip via the computer and using MME drivers rather than ASIO. This is where your problems might start though. If it doesn't have a headphone out, you'll have to use the built in sound card on your laptop for monitoring-probably something like "Realtek HD Audio" or similar. ![]() If the mic is one of the few that has a headphone output, select the mic in the playback box as well. Unless the mic comes with its own driver (unlikely) set the device type to MME then, on the drop down menu find something that looks like the USB mic and select it. To make this the device that gets recorded, go to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware. If you're dead set on using the USB mic, that'll have to be plugged directly into a USB port on your laptop. The Audiobox is designed to take standard XLR mics or analogue instruments. Sorry to have to say that it's NOT possible to run a USB mic through an Audiobox.
